It was on its way from Limay, Bataan, to Iloilo when it was banged by strong waves close to Tablas Island.

The oil spill has put at risk more than 30 of Oriental Mindoro’s marine-protected areas.

In Pola, one of the three worst hit towns in Oriental Mindoro, the mayor said more than 4,000 families living close to the coastline had been evacuated to the higher ground because of the foul smell radiating from the oil spill.

Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor, Pola Mayor Jennifer 'Ina Alegre' Cruz, and Social Welfare chief Rex Gatchalian convey food packs to occupants impacted by the oil spill.

Oriental Mindoro Governor Bonz Dolor couldn't conceal his consternation over the possible long haul effects of an oil spill on the region's marine protected areas.

Governor Bons Dolor recently said the episode could hurt the territory's fishing industry, bringing about lower production and even the need to import.

A condition of catastrophe statement would permit the commonplace government to tap into calamity funds from the national government, and set up a cost freeze on fundamental products, in addition to other things.
